The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said Oct. 16 that Soup Time brand French Onion Soup is being recalled because it contains wheat that is not declared on the label.
The recalled soup, with the UPC 6 28250 50659 4, was sold online and in Alberta, according to the recall notice on the Government of Canada Recalls and Safety Alerts site. The recall covers all codes where wheat is not declared on the label. Images in the notice reference a best before date of Dec. 31, 2027.
The agency said one reaction has been reported. The recall is classed as Class 1 and was triggered by a consumer complaint.
People with a wheat allergy, celiac disease or another gluten-related disorder should not eat the soup, the CFIA said. Anyone who has it should also not serve, use, sell or distribute it, and should throw it out or return it to the place of purchase.
The CFIA said it is investigating and may recall other products as a result. It is also checking that industry removes the recalled product from the marketplace.
The recalling firm is Soup Time Alberta Inc. Questions can go to the CFIA at 1-613-773-2342 or [email protected]. The recall ID is RA-82810.
The recall follows other recent allergen notices, including Kevin’s turkey gravy over undeclared mustard and Nora’s mint chip dessert over undeclared peanut.
