Volvo is recalling 2025 and 2026 EX30 and EX30 Cross Country electric SUVs in Canada because the cushions in the front seat head restraints may not have been attached properly, Transport Canada said in a recall notice.
The notice, number 2026-486, covers the 2025 and 2026 model years of both the EX30 and the EX30 Cross Country. It does not say how many vehicles in Canada are affected.
Transport Canada said a cushion on an affected head restraint could move or come loose in a crash. That could increase the risk of injury to an occupant.
Volvo will notify owners by mail and ask them to take the vehicle to a dealership, where the front seat head restraint cushions will be repaired. The notice does not give a date for the mailed letters and does not say whether the repair is free of charge.
The notice was first posted Oct. 8 and updated Oct. 16 on the Government of Canada’s recalls and safety alerts site. It is a vehicle recall listed under Transport Canada’s Motor Vehicle Safety Recalls Database.
Owners can check whether a specific vehicle is included by searching the database with the vehicle identification number, or by contacting a Volvo dealer.
The EX30 is one of several electric vehicles to draw recall notices this month. Volkswagen has also been recalling ID.4 vehicles over a battery fire risk, and Hyundai and Genesis owners were told to park outside over a seat switch fire risk.
