Vancouver Whitecaps FC have clinched first place in the MLS Western Conference for the first time in club history, the team said Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026.
The Whitecaps finished the regular season at 17 wins, eight losses and seven draws, good for 58 points, according to the club’s release. The finish locks in home-field advantage throughout the Western Conference playoffs.
“For the first time in club history, Vancouver Whitecaps FC have clinched first place in the MLS Western Conference,” the club said.
The Whitecaps will open the 2026 MLS Cup Playoffs at home on Sunday, Nov. 22 at BC Place in Game 1 of a best-of-three first-round series, the club said. Kickoff time will be confirmed at a later date.
Game 2 will be on the road on either Friday, Nov. 27 or Saturday, Nov. 28, the club said. If a third game is needed, it will be played at BC Place on either Tuesday, Dec. 1 or Wednesday, Dec. 2.
Vancouver will face the winner of the Western Conference wild-card match between the eighth and ninth seeds. The identity of that opponent has not yet been determined.
As the top seed in the West, the Whitecaps would host both the Western Conference semifinals and the Western Conference final at BC Place if they advance, the club said. They would also have the potential to host MLS Cup.
The top finish also secures a place in the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup, the club said. It will be the team’s fifth consecutive appearance in the tournament and its seventh overall. The draw for the 62nd edition of the competition is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 21, with matches to be played between February and June 2027.
Abbotsford News, which reported the news Saturday, said the Whitecaps are coming off a season in which they reached both the MLS Cup and Concacaf Champions Cup finals and are looking to take a step further in 2026.
The club’s regular-season home finale is the annual Fan Appreciation Match against the Seattle Sounders on Sunday, Nov. 1 at BC Place, with a 1:30 p.m. start, Abbotsford News reported. More than 30,000 tickets had been sold for the match, the newspaper said. Game 1 tickets for the playoff opener are on sale through Ticketmaster.
The Whitecaps most recently won 4-1 over San Diego FC on Oct. 29, a game in which Brian White scored his 100th MLS goal, as Canada News Media reported.
