Edmonton Oilers defenceman Slater Koekkoek will not return to Saturday’s game against the Calgary Flames after suffering an upper body injury.
The injury occurred within the first two minutes of the game. Koekkoek took a massive hit from Flames’ Sam Bennett near centre ice and was slow to get up. Once on his feet, Koekkoek immediately left the ice to head to the dressing room.
Bennett received a two-minute minor penalty for interference.
Koekkoek, 27, has one goal in 16 games this season.
