That sets a new daily case record for BC and brings the province’s total active case count to 974.
There are now 23 patients in hospital, seven of whom are in intensive care, with the remaining cases self-isolating at home.
No new deaths were recorded, leaving BC’s death toll from the virus at 204.
While BC’s caseload increased from about 300 at the beginning of August to 900 within a matter of weeks, it has remained relatively stable for the last few days.
While health officials identified 188 infections from Tuesday to Thursday, they also said 185 people recovered from COVID-19 over the same period.

“This weekend, let’s remember to use the layers of protection that keep ourselves and those around us safe. This is also a good time to think about the new routines that will be part of our activities into the fall,” said officials in a written statement on Friday.
“The efforts we make today make the difference for all of us tomorrow, so let’s renew our commitment to doing what we can to keep our province and ourselves safe.”
