Despite holding a significant shot-advantage for most of the game, the Calgary Flames were unable to snap their losing streak on Thursday.
Calgary outshot the Minnesota Wild 30-22, but ultimately fell 4-1 for its fifth consecutive defeat.
The Wild took a 2-0 lead less than 11 minutes into the first period, and rode that early advantage and an excellent Filip Gustavsson performance to the win.
Danila Yurov and Vincent Hinostroza staked Minnesota to the first-period lead, and Matt Boldy buried an insurance marker on a third-period power play to keep the Flames from putting together a comeback after Morgan Frost’s 11th goal of the season.
Kirill Kaprizov added a late empty-netter for the Wild.
