Most leagues in the province have cancelled their schedule for the next week. It liked would have featured a great game in the Rockyview League at the 4A level. With Cochrane travelling to Airdrie for a date with George McDougall and the 5A “Grandaddy of them All” between St. Francis and Notre Dame (CGY) in McMahon Stadium, would have been, as is usual each season, the largest crowd to see a high school football game in Canada. In this edition of the rankings, we have included next week’s schedule so people can see what teams might have played.

The School Sport Alberta (SSA) association has released contingency plans for operating provincials based on the number of weeks the job action continues. However, should it still be in place as of Nov. 4, then there will be no Alberta Bowl in 2025.

Football Alberta truly hopes for a fair and equitable end to the job action and, like everyone else, will wait until there is a resolution before releasing future rankings. For now, we’ll just have to look at the top teams in 5A and wonder what if, and marvel at the wonderful, chaotic worlds of 4A, 3A, 9-aside and 6-aside. All the best to the student athletes in their upcoming challenges until we see you on the field again.
The 12-a-side teams are slotted into their levels based on their estimated school size by SSA, while the 9 and 6-a-side teams are one level only. Some re-sorting of 12-a-side levels will take place after the final official population numbers are recorded at the end of September. Please note that games vs. us opponents, scrimmages, or tournaments are not taken into consideration for ranking or listed in the overall
record of the schools.
