How to use GPS locators in ‘Sons of the Forest’

Published

 on

Sons of the Forest’s GPS trackers are invaluable for keeping track of important locations and people, but they can be difficult to use. Whether you’re not sure how to find GPS locators or you just want to know how to use them, NME has you covered.

There are many reasons why you may want to pick up a GPS Locator. Generally, it’s a way of marking certain areas, so that you can return to them later. Whether it’s a spot that’s ripe with resources, or maybe even somewhere you’d like to avoid, the GPS tracker can be used to help navigate around the map.

Then there’s Virginia, a three-legged character that can be given a GPS marker, and can then be tracked. Success in Sons of the Forest relies heavily on your ability to get your bearings quickly, and to be able to know generally how the map is laid out. Here’s how GPS Locators work in Sons of the Forest.

GPS trackers mark objects on your map, and they can be found in Sons of the Forest at the purple locations on your GPS map (brought up by pressing M) which locate members of your team. By and large, they’ve all met the sort of fates that mean they no longer require their GPS trackers, so you can take them for yourself. These are often worth getting your hands on for a few different reasons, as the bodies that are marked are often clutching rare items like pistol accessories, the traditional axe or even the rope gun.

How to use GPS Locators in Sons of the Forest

The first step to using these is to equip them to your hand from the inventory. Once you can see yourself clutching it, a click of the left mouse button will change the icon and change the icon that will be displayed on your map.

The best use for your first GPS locator is for tracking Virginia, the three-legged and three-armed lady in a white swimsuit that you’ll encounter. She’s a potential companion when you’ve managed to befriend her, but unlike your other companion Kelvin she doesn’t have a tracker by default.

To do this, once you’ve befriended her you can interact with her inventory to hand her a GPS tracker and she’ll then be trackable on the map. Virginia is a combat companion and will help you fight any of the Forest’s multitude of enemies, so keeping track of her helps. Giving Virginia the tracker also unlocks the “Every Move You Make” achievement.

You can also mark specific locations by equipping a stick from your inventory, putting it into the ground (by right-clicking with your mouse) and then equipping the locator and putting it on top of the stick. This is useful for keeping track of locations you want to return to or avoid, and our group tends to use this to keep track of the semi-developed bases and waystations as you venture around the map trying to uncover the mysteries at the heart of Sons of the Forest.

That’s how GPS Locators work in Sons of the Forest. For more help with the game, here’s how to turn on Peaceful Mode.

Elsewhere in gaming, Sons Of The Forest fan has completed the survival horror game in eight minutes and 45 seconds, thanks to a combination of creative glitches.

Huawei's new Kirin 9010 brings minor CPU improvements – GSMArena.com news – GSMArena.com

Published

 on

Huawei announced the Pura 70 series today, and once again offered no details regarding the chipsets. However, early benchrmarks confirmed they feature a new platform called Kirin 9010, which has an 8-core CPU, identified by apps as 12-core unit due to hyperthreading.

Hyperthreading is nothing new in the chipset industry, as the Taishan cores have been supporting the technology for some time; it has been part of the Kirin 9000s and now is a part of the 9010 as well.

First Geekbench results revealed a minor improvement in raw performance, coming from slightly faster core speeds. The numbers show improvement single digit percentage improvements in both single core and multi core tests.

'Kingdom Come: Deliverance II' Revealed In Epic New Trailer And It Looks Incredible – Forbes

Published

 on

“You can save the world, or you can help punish it for its sins.” That’s the crux of Warhorse Studio’s “behemoth” of a sequel to 2018’s Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The sequel, which is slated for release later this year on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PS5 will be bigger, more fun, filled with adventure and more diverse thanks to its setting in the 15th century Bohemian city of Kuttenberg a city that creative director Daniel Vavra says is “really big, it’s even too big in my opinion.”

New weapons like the crossbow and primitive firearms will also make their debut in the continued story of the squire Henry (Tom McKay) and the knight he accompanies, Hans Capon (Luke Dale) as they leave the country behind.

Here’s the trailer, which features gameplay, cinematics and discussion from the actors and developers. Be sure to watch until the end to see the bit about the music. A full choir and orchestra in a beautiful Eastern European cathedral? Just gorgeous.

“What we are making now is what it was supposed to be in the beginning, but we weren’t able to do it because we didn’t have enough resources and experiences and all that stuff,” Vavra says in the video. “We’ve proven the concept works, so now we can take it to another level, which is what we always wanted.”

“This is a behemoth of a game in comparison to the first. In my opinion I think it’s got so much more energy and pace and adventure and action and fun and trial and tribulation and everything you can want,” McKay says in the video.

The game will be “much bigger in scope” with a more in-depth story and a world roughly twice the size of the first. The story has evolved from a small-scale conflict to one about “the problem with kings,” Vavra says.

).render(randId);
);
)();

Kingdom Come Deliverance II, like the first game, is not a fantasy RPG like Skyrim or The Witcher, but one that attempts to create a historically accurate world down to the weapons, costumes, locations and people. There are no magicians or dragons or elves here—but there will be plenty of adventure, exploration and knight errantry.

Pretty exciting!
