
The TSX Composite Index closed today 12.3 per cent lower, 1,761 points, its biggest loss since 1940.
The Dow fell 10 per cent, 2,352 points, the most since the 1987 crash. The benchmark S&P 500 fell 9.5 per cent, 260 points, joining the Dow and NASDAQ in a bear market .
The dollar is down 57-100ths to 72.00 cents U.S.
