Health officials are reporting no new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador today.
That leaves just three active cases in the province.
The Department of Health and Community Services also provided an update on the single presumptive positive case reported on Saturday. The case involved a man in the Labrador-Grenfell Health region between 20-39 years of age. That person, a resident of Newfoundland and Labrador, is a worker at the Voisey’s Bay mine site in northern Labrador.
His initial sample and an additional sample were both tested at the provincial Public Health and Microbiology Laboratory overnight, with both coming back negative. That means the man does not have COVID-19 and the total number of confirmed cases in the province remains at 291.
Public Health officials noted they always treat presumptive positive cases as true positive cases. As a result, they completed contact tracing and anyone who had been informed that they were possible contacts of this case will be contacted by Public Health with further direction.
To date, 284 people have recovered from the virus, 52,657 people have been tested, and four people have died of the virus in this province.
