Gone are the days when hotel restaurants were simply a convenient option for guests who didn’t want to leave the property. Today, they’re destinations in their own right, drawing locals, food lovers and travellers eager to score a reservation sometimes before they’ve even booked a room.

New data from the booking platform OpenTable suggests Canada’s hotel dining scene is hotter than ever, with dining at hotel restaurants up seven per cent compared to last year. Of the 1,500 Canadians surveyed, 90 per cent say they’ve dined at a hotel restaurant without staying overnight. Food is also shaping the way Canadians plan their travel: 43 per cent choose destinations based on the local culinary scene, while 39 per cent spend more time researching where to eat and drink than any other part of their getaway. And for many, the meal comes before the hotel itself, with 28 per cent planning vacations around food first and the same percentage booking a hotel specifically because they wanted to dine at one of its restaurants. 

As culinary experiences become as much of a draw as the accommodations themselves, OpenTable has released its list of the best hotel restaurants in Canada. Based on more than one million reviews and dining metrics from May 1, 2025 to April 30, 2026, the list highlights standout dining destinations from coast to coast.

Ontario

Ontario features the largest concentration of restaurants on the list, particularly in Toronto. Luxury hotels continue to attract diners with acclaimed restaurants including TOCA at The Ritz-Carlton; Café Boulud at Four Seasons Hotel Toronto; REIGN, Library Bar and CLOCKWORK at the Fairmont Royal York and The Tea Room at Windsor Arms Hotel. Diners are also flocking to destinations such as Akira Back, TONO by Akira Back, Alder, KŌST, Don Alfonso 1890 and LOUIX LOUIS, all of which have become sought-after reservations for locals and visitors alike.

Outside Toronto, Ontario’s hotel dining scene extends to Niagara Falls with 21 Club and Ponte Vecchio at Fallsview Casino Resort, Niagara-on-the-Lake with Cannery Restaurant, Masaki Sushi & Sake Bar and The Drawing Room at the Prince of Wales Hotel, as well as Langdon Hall Dining Room in Cambridge, a renowned destination for seasonal tasting menus.

Québec

Québec earns multiple spots on the list thanks to its blend of historic luxury and contemporary cuisine. Québec City’s iconic Fairmont Château Frontenac is home to Le Champlain Restaurant, while Montréal boasts celebrated dining rooms including Maison Boulud at the Ritz-Carlton Montréal, Marcus at Four Seasons Hotel Montréal, Bar George inside the historic Mount Stephen Hotel and Terrasse William Gray, which pairs panoramic Old Montréal views with seasonal cuisine.

Alberta

In Alberta, Fairmont Banff Springs is represented by 1888 Chop House, known for its premium Canadian beef, Rundle Bar, where craft cocktails are paired with spectacular mountain views and Castello Italiana with its elevated Italian cuisine. While Lake Louise is home to favourites including Fairview Bar & Restaurant, Lakeview Lounge and the acclaimed Post Hotel Dining Room, long celebrated for its award-winning wine cellar and refined French-inspired menu. 

British Columbia 

British Columbia’s list showcases Vancouver’s thriving hotel dining scene, with acclaimed restaurants such as Botanist at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, celebrated for its creative West Coast cuisine and innovative cocktails, and Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar, a seafood-focused favourite inside the Sutton Place Hotel. Other standouts include Hawksworth Restaurant at Rosewood Hotel Georgia, Reflections The Garden Terrace, Prophecy, Tableau Bar Bistro and The Victor at Parq Vancouver. Beyond the city, Whistler earns recognition with both Hy’s Steakhouse Whistler and the popular Wild Blue Restaurant + Bar.

Meanwhile, Newfoundland and Labrador is represented by The Little Sparo in St. John’s, showcasing how standout hotel dining experiences can be found from coast to coast.
