Canadian singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette will release her first holiday album, Good Weather for Immaculate Conception, on Nov. 6 through Epiphany Music and Virgin Music, according to Stereogum and SPIN.
The album runs to 14 tracks and features six guests, from Brandi Carlile and Steve Martin to Martin Short. Both outlets reported the announcement on Oct. 9, and Exclaim! followed on Oct. 13 with a piece pairing it with a holiday album from another Canadian, Steven Page.
The lead single, Beautiful Star of Bethlehem, was released on Oct. 9 with Carlile and Martin. Stereogum described it as a gospel hymn most famously recorded by the Judds.
Two songs are new originals, To an Empath at Christmas Time and Christmas on the Dancefloor. The rest are interpretations of existing songs, according to the track listing published by Stereogum and SPIN. They include O Holy Night, Little Drummer Boy, Ave Maria, Silent Night, Last Christmas, John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s Happy Xmas (War Is Over) and Joni Mitchell’s River.
The other guests are singer-songwriters Amythyst Kiah and Joy Oladokun, who appear on Momma Mary and Silent Night, and Trans Voices on O Tannenbaum. SPIN described Trans Voices as the United Kingdom’s first professional trans choir. Short appears on a different track from Martin, the closing Merry Christmas.
SPIN reported that the album gathers some of Morissette’s previously released holiday songs with the new material. Neither outlet quoted Morissette directly, and neither named the earlier releases. Her Butterfly With a Machete residency returns to the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles on Nov. 5, the day before the album arrives, SPIN reported. It also said she was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in June.
Morissette, who was born in Ottawa, has not announced Canadian concert dates tied to the album in any of the three reports. Canadian fans can still pre-order through her online store, according to Exclaim!.
Page, the former Barenaked Ladies singer from Toronto, will release Steven’s Greetings on Nov. 13, Exclaim! reported. The 10-track album includes his Murdoch Mysteries song Christmas in Toronto, the Corner Gas track Everyone Can Sing at Christmas and Barenaked Ladies holiday songs such as Hanukkah Blessings. Exclaim! did not say whether those are new recordings.
A 28-date tour follows from November to March 2027, mostly in Canada and the United States, Exclaim! reported. Listings show Page and his trio at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto on Nov. 27 and the Algonquin Commons Theatre in Ottawa on Nov. 28. Exclaim! also lists a Halifax stop on March 24. Page was quoted by CNHI Media in May as saying, “I’m really proud of this new record and can’t wait to tour it this November and December with the Steven Page Trio.”
Morissette’s album arrives Nov. 6 and Page’s a week later on Nov. 13. Ticket details for Page’s tour dates are on the venues’ own pages.
