ST. LOUIS: Philip Broberg scored on a third-period power play and Joel Hofer made 32 saves as the St. Louis Blues beat the Winnipeg Jets 2-1 on Tuesday night.
Broberg’s slapper from the middle of the ice, above the faceoff circles, came at 8:47 of the third period and broke a 1-1 tie. Robert Thomas set up the goal.
Jimmy Snuggerud gave St. Louis a 1-0 lead in the first period, his fifth goal of the season, with Broberg getting the assist. Cole Perfetti tied the game for Winnipeg 32 seconds into the third, his sixth goal of the year.
Stuart Skinner stopped 27 shots for the Jets, who earlier this month lost 3-2 to the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Blues improved to 4-4-1 and snapped a two-game losing streak to open a five-game homestand. Thomas has 332 career assists, one short of matching Brian Sutter for fourth on the franchise list.
Winnipeg visits the Dallas Stars on Thursday night. St. Louis hosts the Vegas Golden Knights, the team that sits atop the NHL power rankings after two weeks.
