Air Transat has launched Staria, a free rewards program that gives travellers points on flights and holiday packages, a separate set of rewards earned by completing missions, and a way for up to nine members to pool their points.
The Montreal-based airline describes Staria on its website as a program for people who travel once a month or once a year, not only frequent flyers. Registration is open now, and the airline’s site invites travellers to become a member. The launch was reported Monday by Travel and Tour World, which cited a newswire release.
Members earn Staria points when they buy eligible flights, holiday packages and some add-on services, Air Transat said. Points can later be applied to part or all of an eligible Air Transat flight or Transat holiday package, but not to taxes and airport fees, according to Travel and Tour World’s account of the program rules.
The earning rate depends on the fare. Travel and Tour World reported that an Eco Budget fare earns three points for every $1 spent, Eco Standard and Club Standard fares earn five, and Eco Flex and Club Flex fares earn seven. Transat holiday packages earn one point per dollar, and eligible additional services earn five. Points are credited after the qualifying travel is completed.
Flights operated by Porter Airlines and booked through Air Transat’s Canadian website also count towards points, the report said.
The second part of the program is Stars, which members earn by completing what Air Transat calls missions, small tasks done along the way. The airline’s website says the more stars a member collects, the more rewards they unlock. Travel and Tour World listed seat selection, meals from Air Transat’s Bistro menu and bonus points towards future purchases among the rewards.
The third part is called a Constellation. Air Transat says members can join up with eight others to create a group account and combine their points, so a family or group of friends can reach a reward sooner than any one person could.
Membership is free for anyone aged two and older, according to Travel and Tour World. Online registration is currently offered through the Canadian versions of the Air Transat and Transat websites. The report said points can be forfeited after 36 consecutive months of inactivity, subject to the program’s conditions.
Staria also has a banking partner. Air Transat has named Desjardins and Visa as strategic partners and plans co-branded credit cards that would earn Staria points on everyday purchases, Travel and Tour World reported. It said the cards are planned for 2027 and that earning rates and eligibility rules have not been disclosed. Earlier coverage of the partnership, including by CTV News and MoneySense, had pointed to a launch in the second half of 2026.
Staria replaces a rewards program Air Transat suspended in 2025, trade outlets have reported. Canadian airlines have been competing for leisure travellers as carriers adjust their networks. Canada News Media has also reported on WestJet’s decision to drop 13 international destinations and on the WestJet CEO’s call for a national aviation strategy.
Air Transat’s program terms and conditions are posted on its website. Travellers can compare the program details there before they sign up.
