Which hair dryers are best in Canada?
No. 1, best for everyday drying: Laifen Swift Hair Dryer with Diffuser. The Swift is built for people who want salon-style speed without the Dyson price. The listing describes a 110,000 RPM brushless motor, airflow of up to 22 metres per second and 200 million negative ions, plus a four-colour LED ring that shows whether the air is hot, warm or cool. It weighs about 407 grams, which matters if you dry long or thick hair and your arm tires before the job is done. The listing says a thermo-control chip checks airflow temperature up to 100 times a second and adjusts it. It is sold by Laifen Official and ships from Amazon, and it carries 4.5 stars from 112 ratings, a smaller sample than the older brands. Owner reviews were not read for this guide, so check the review section for complaints before you buy.

No. 2, best for brand loyalists: Dyson Supersonic. At $579.99 this is the most expensive dryer in the guide, and the listing leans on heat control. Dyson says the dryer measures air temperature more than 40 times a second and keeps it under control, and that its Air Multiplier technology amplifies the air three times for faster drying. The magnetic attachments snap on and rotate 360 degrees. The listing carries 4.3 stars from 178 ratings and it is shipped and sold by Amazon.ca. The Supersonic is the pick for people who already trust Dyson, and the price is the main reason to think twice. It costs more than two Laifen Swifts. If you are comparing it with the Airwrap, see our Dyson Airwrap price and specs guide.

No. 3, best for drying and styling in one: Shark FlexStyle 4-in-1. The FlexStyle is less a conventional dryer than a multi-styler. You rotate the unit to switch between drying and styling, and attachments curl, volumize and smooth. Shark says it measures and regulates temperature 1,000 times a second and that it weighs just over 1.5 pounds. It is shipped and sold by Amazon.ca at $399.99 and holds 4.1 stars from 1,844 ratings, the largest sample in this guide and the lowest score. That score is worth noting: a big pool of owners rates it a little lower than the Laifen models. It makes sense if you want one tool to replace a dryer, brush and curler, and less sense if you only need to dry your hair.

No. 4, best value: Laifen SE Lite. At $104.99 the SE Lite is where the Laifen range gets interesting for shoppers on a budget. The listing says it has a high-speed brushless motor, 150 million negative ions, and temperature monitoring up to 50 times a second. The box includes a diffuser for curly and wavy hair and a smooth nozzle for sleeker styles, so you are not paying extra for attachments. It has 4.5 stars from 578 ratings and is sold by Laifen Official, shipped from Amazon. The listing shows the Milktea colour. It is the one to buy if the Swift feels like more than you need.

No. 5, best for travel: Laifen Air. The Air is the cheapest pick at $84.98 and the lightest, at 9.88 ounces on the listing. It has a compact, palm-sized body, a 110,000 RPM motor, airflow of up to 19 metres per second and 200 million negative ions, and the listing says temperature is checked 100 times a second. It comes with a diffuser. It is rated 4.5 stars from 445 ratings and sold by Laifen Official.

How we chose
We searched Amazon.ca on Nov. 5, 2026 for hair dryers from Dyson, Shark and Laifen and opened each product page the same day. We kept dryers rated 4.0 stars or higher with at least 100 ratings, and listings shipped and sold by Amazon.ca or sold by the brand’s own official store. That left out the Dyson Supersonic Origin (52 ratings), the Shark SpeedStyle Pro (73 ratings) and several cheaper third-party dryers sold by marketplace sellers. Specifications come from the listings, and we did not test any of these dryers ourselves.

Is a Dyson hair dryer worth the money?
Dyson’s pitch is heat control and speed, and the Supersonic’s listing makes both claims. The Laifen dryers make very similar promises on paper: high-speed brushless motors, ionic output and temperature sensing, for a fraction of the price. On the numbers alone, the Swift at $219.99 is $360 cheaper than the Supersonic. What the numbers do not show is long-term durability, which neither we nor the listings can verify. If you want the Dyson name, pay for it. If you want fast drying and a lighter dryer for less, the Laifen range is where the value is.
What should you look for in a hair dryer?
Weight comes first if you dry thick or long hair, because a dryer that is 100 grams lighter makes a real difference over ten minutes. Airflow and motor speed come next: a higher metres-per-second figure usually means faster drying, though makers measure it differently. Heat control matters for colour-treated or fine hair, since the dryers here all say they sense and limit temperature. Check the attachments too. A diffuser is useful for curls and waves, and a concentrator nozzle helps with straightening. Finally, look at who sells it, because a dryer sold by Amazon.ca or the brand is easier to return.
When is the best time to buy a hair dryer in Canada?
Hair tools are common gift items, so prices often move around Black Friday (Nov. 27 this year), Boxing Day and Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days. Those are general patterns, not promised discounts, and we have not seen any sale prices for these dryers. The prices in this article are the ones shown on Nov. 5. If you are shopping for a gift, our guide to perfume gift sets for her may help round out the list.
Who should skip these dryers?
Buyers who dry their hair a few times a week and have no heat concerns can get by with a basic 1,800-watt dryer at $50 or less. Anyone who wants a styler rather than a dryer should look at the Shark FlexStyle, not the Laifen models. The Dyson Supersonic is hard to justify if budget is the main concern.
Frequently asked questions
Is a Laifen hair dryer as good as a Dyson?
On the listings, the Laifen Swift matches the Dyson Supersonic on motor speed claims, heat sensing and attachments, and costs $219.99 instead of $579.99. We have not tested either, so we cannot say which dries better.
How much is a Dyson hair dryer in Canada?
The Dyson Supersonic was $579.99 on Amazon.ca on Nov. 5, 2026, shipped and sold by Amazon.ca. Dyson also lists a simpler Supersonic Origin at $499.99, but it had only 52 ratings, so it is not in this guide.

Is the Shark FlexStyle a hair dryer?
Yes, in part. Shark calls it a 4-in-1 dryer and styler. It dries hair and, with attachments, curls, volumizes and smooths.
