FRENCH MOUNTAIN — A pair of hikers were rescued after they became lost while hiking the Skyline Trail in Cape Breton on Sunday.
Around 3:30 p.m., police responded to a report of two 17-year-old hikers who were lost after leaving the travelled portion of the Skyline Trail, according to a press release from the Inverness District RCMP.
Search members on snowmobiles were able to reach the hikers, who were approximately 500 meters from the trail.
The hikers, a man and a woman, were transported back to their car around 6 p.m. Police said they did not require any medical attention.
Police reminded hikers to plan ahead and research their hiking area before heading out on the trails.
