
After reporting just one new case Thursday, Region of Waterloo Public Health reported nine new COVID-19 cases on Friday morning.
Six of the nine new cases are the result of community transmission.
It raises the local total of coronavirus cases to 1,378 (27 new ones this week).
Another six people have recovered, putting the number of resolved cases at 1,207.
Active cases increase slightly to 53, 12 are in hospital.
The number of deaths linked to the virus remains unchanged at 119, 95 of which have been connected to an outbreak.
Meantime, a new outbreak has been declared at Columbia Forest long-term care – a staff member has come down with the virus.
It marks the second time an outbreak has been declared at that home.
The other outbreak is at PeopleCare Hilltop Manor, where a member of the staff tested positive.
The health department also updates testing numbers on Friday – just over 1,200 more have been completed for a total of over 47,000.
