Turkeys make good pets. Really. They are also considered unintelligent but also ferocious. At the turn of the 17th century, Early American colonists used turkeys as primitive but effective alarm systems and guard dogs too. Turkeys are territorial and not very complicated.
Psychopaths roam freely within our societies making up a good portion of our business/corporate/political leadership. They come in all sizes, shapes and dispositions. A psycho crave particular things just like us but with a greater intensity and are willing to apply a greater intensity to achieve what they want and how they want to achieve it too. It is the intensity that shows forth identifying them to others. They may be entirely peaceful and law abiding family centered individuals. It is said “they need speed”, to get their adrenaline churning, their hearts pounding. They can also lie like no other person you have ever met. Psychopaths are highly complicated, but easily identified so long as you have the time to observe them in their natural habitats. Psychologists have found them to be insular, self-isolating, near schizophrenic in their action-reaction to their environment and at times dangerous.
Imagine a politician who has presented himself to be a billionaire when he never was. A natural liar telling unimaginative fibs to make himself impressive to the voters. A man who openly humiliates women he likes and men who he sees as enemies. This man’s self-interest knows no boundaries. Once he achieves his political goal, he spends most of his time on the gulf course believing global business can be accomplished on the 9th hole. His self-interest and craving for notoriety leads him to befriend the unusual, weird and threatening among the global heads of state.
Susceptible to others’ admiration and reverence, this man leads himself and the nation he would lead into dangerous situations. A true example of a person open to blackmail and undue manipulation possibly by foreign interests. His family can be much like him too, or entirely different. His sons react and speak like him, while his daughter has maturely separated herself from her father’s affairs.
You know who I am speaking about right? This psychopath is running for the most powerful office in the land. His opponent is sheepish compared to him, but his opponent has a moral, ethical and religious rooting that the psycho has rejected. The opponent walks the path of responsibility for his actions and respect for others, while the psycho does not.
Question: Would you give the psychopath the nuclear football, its codes and power of destruction? I hope not.
As Aretha Franklin sang many years ago “Think think what you’re trying to do to me. I ain’t no psychiatrist, I ain’t no doctor with degree’s, but I don’t need a high IQ to know what you’re doing to me”.
Strength of character is found in consideration, kindness, empathy and courage to do what is right..
