The 2026 rankings were determined by 160 judges, a mix of food writers, critics, chefs and knowledgeable diners, each asked to submit their top 10 restaurant experiences of the past year.
Ontario wine country still on top
For the second consecutive year, Restaurant Pearl Morissette in Jordan Station, Ont., took the No. 1 spot. Set on 17 hectares of vineyard and farmland in Niagara wine country, no one wanders in here on a whim. You plan your visit and make the drive. Heck, you’ll probably want to make a weekend of it.
Owner-chefs Daniel Hadida and Eric Robertson have built a reputation on hyper-seasonal tasting menus. The menu changes frequently, built around what’s coming out of the ground and water at any given moment across Canada. We’re talking West Coast halibut, Ontario guinea hen and rice from the paddies of Abbotsford, B.C.
Quebec makes a strong showing
Montreal’s Mon Lapin held firm at No. 2, while Quebec City’s Taniere3 made the year’s most dramatic jump, vaulting from 13th all the way to No. 3. Taniere3 also took home the Best Service award, which means you won’t see diners there doing that awkward cheque please sign in the air.

Between them, Ontario and Quebec locked down nine of the top 10 spots — five for Ontario, four for Quebec, leaving Calgary’s Eight at No. 9 as the sole western gatecrasher.
The case for the road trip
The best meals in Canada don’t always come with a skyline view, as the 2026 list deliciously proves. The Pine in Creemore, Ont., named Best Destination Restaurant and ranked No. 11 overall, is proof people are happy to drive for a fantastic meal.
Canada’s best bars in 2026
Likewise, the best seat in the house is often at the bar, with standout winners recognized across Canada from coast to coast.
Montreal’s Bar St-Denis took home Best Restaurant Bar while also landing at No. 22 on the overall restaurant list. In Toronto, No Vacancy was crowned Best New Bar. Back in Quebec City, 1608 tucked inside Fairmont Le Château Frontenac won the People’s Choice award for Best Bar, which isn’t decided by judges, but by civilians (quite possibly tourists) who just really, really wanted another round.

If your idea of a perfect nightcap involves a storied lobby and a whiff of old-school glamour, look no further than the Library Bar inside Fairmont Royal York in Toronto, which took home Best Hotel Bar.
And in Calgary, Missy’s This That claimed Best Wine Bar. Located above a convenience store a few blocks from the buzz of 17th Avenue and 4th Street, it’s the kind of only-in-Calgary find that proves the city’s food and drink scene is more than a great steak and Caesar. (Yes, the Caesar cocktail hails from here.)
Whether you live in a major city or are happy to make the drive for an epic meal, Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants 2026 is essentially a well-researched road trip itinerary. Start planning, kids.
