When will those businesses open in the Montreal area?
Retail stores in the CMM, including Montreal Island, will reopen on May 11, along with their suppliers. As in the rest of the province, they must be accessible via an exterior entrance.
However, Legault has cautioned he’s prepared to delay the gradual reopening if people in the Montreal area don’t respect physical distancing requirements and if the COVID-19 crisis deepens.
What about the construction industry?
The construction industry will resume in all regions of Quebec on May 11. That includes residential, institutional, commercial, industrial and road construction, as well as civil engineering projects. The industry’s supply chains can also restart. However, administrative staff must continue working from home.
