Saskatchewan Party Leader Scott Moe has framed the 2020 election as a question about who voters trust to lead the province’s economic recovery.
Online survey results from Angus Reid, in partnership with Postmedia, released early Thursday morning, suggest many voters are inclined to agree — and almost all of them pick Moe’s team as the best to do it.
The survey suggests that the Sask. Party’s colossal advantages on economic issues like growth, taxes and resources are drowning out the NDP’s slimmer leads on health care, COVID-19 and education.
“When you look at the strength that the Saskatchewan Party has, they’re almost unanimous on those economic issues,” said Dave Korzinski, research director for Angus Reid. “There’s almost no support whatsoever for the NDP.”
That could be key to the Sask. Party’s 27-point lead in voter intention. Of 759 respondents surveyed, four out of five said issues will matter most for their vote, compared to 13 per cent who chose leadership and eight per cent who chose the candidates in their local consistencies.
