Male pepper-sprayed downtown
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a male was sprayed with a noxious substance Wednesday evening.
The victim said he left a Quebec Street restaurant approximately 6:45 p.m. carrying a take-out container. He was approached by an unknown male who asked for the food but the victim refused.
A short time later the victim was walking to pick his daughter up nearby when he passed the unknown male. As the victim walked past the male, he turned around with a cannister in his hand and sprayed the victim in the face with a substance believed to be pepper spray.
The male was last seen running on Quebec Street towards Wyndham Street North. He was described as a white male, approximately 20 years of age with a slim build. He was wearing a long white shirt, dark pants, dark shoes and a dark hat.

Two males arrested for robbery
Two Guelph males face robbery and weapons charges following an incident in the south-end Thursday.
Approximately 2 p.m., two teens were walking in the area of College Avenue West and Scottsdale Drive when they were approached by two males. One of the males pulled out a knife and demanded cash, taking money from both victims.
Guelph Police Service officers located one of the suspects a short time later. He was arrested following a short foot pursuit, during which the male pulled a baton from his pocket and tried to discard it. Following his arrest officers located a small amount of suspected fentanyl. The second suspect was arrested at his home a short time later.
An 18-year-old Guelph male and 15-year-old Guelph male are jointly charged with robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The older male is also charged with assault with a weapon, while the younger male is further charged with obstructing police and possessing a controlled substance. The 18-year-old was held for a bail hearing Friday. The 15-year-old will appear in a Guelph court December 7, 2022.
Impaired charge after hit and run
A Guelph male is charged with impaired driving following a hit and run collision Thursday evening.
Just after 6 p.m., a female was sitting in her car in a plaza on Speedvale Avenue East when it was hit from behind by another vehicle. The female exited her vehicle as the other car pulled away but was able to see the driver and photograph the licence plate. Minor damage was reported.
Officers located the other vehicle in a residential driveway a short distance away and spoke to a male, who has a strong odour of alcoholic beverage on his breath. He was arrested and taken to the police station where tests confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.
A 29-year-old Guelph male is charged with impaired driving and failing to stop after a collision. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He will appear in a Guelph court November 8, 2022.
