#39 Alex Chiasson, 4. Sound defensively but had little going on at the offensive end, especially at even strength on an ineffective fourth line. Fired wide on one great powerplay chance, and was robbed by Holtby from extremely close range in the third.
#44 Zack Kassian, 6. Made a great pass to Nurse on the 2-2, and was generally involved with 4 hits. Got burned on the 5-3 clincher when he was in decent position but unable to cut out a lead pass to Boeser who walked in unmolested. Chipped in on 4 dangerous chances at the good end, just the 1 against.
#56 Kailer Yamamoto, 7. Scored Oilers opening goal on a terrific give and go where he worked the puck loose to Draisaitl on the forecheck, jumped into the slot to take the return feed, and wired a quick wrist shot to the top corner. Had another great chance with 8 minutes left, Oilers down by 1, but couldn’t solve Holtby who made an outstanding save. Paid the price when he got smoked by Alex Edler. Took 1 penalty, but later drew 2.
#63 Tyler Ennis, 3. Struggled mightily on an ineffective line. Generated 0 shot attempts or scoring chances all night. His turnover at the defensive blueline was a key factor in the 2-1 goal. His only statistical contribution (besides that -1) was a gutsy shot block.
#74 Ethan Bear, 5. Played 23:11 on the first pairing and held his own. Chipped in a secondary assist on Nurse’s goal. Made a couple of good defensive stops in open ice, 1-on-1 challenges. Among the victims on the second Canucks tally.
