
There was some bounce in the local real estate market in May.
According to the Barrie and District Association of RELATORS, the region showed a strong recovery from last month, as the number of residential units sold doubled.
In Barrie, 212 units were sold last month, which was 116.3% more than the number of units sold in April. A year ago, the number of units sold between May and April jumped by 9.8 per cent. The average price of units sold within Barrie during May was $519,915. This was 1.8% less than the average price during April.
445 residential units were sold in Simcoe County in May–a 102.3% increase from April 2020. During the same time a year ago (April 2019 to May 2019), there was a 2.4% increase in the number of units sold. The average price of residential units sold last month was $552,733–a 4.9% increase from April 2020. In comparison, the average price a year ago increased by 1.5% from April to May.
