Christie has since tested positive for COVID-19, is feeling weak but has no shortness of breath, her daughter said.
Just after 6 a.m. on March 29, a senior official in the West Island CIUSSS got the first inkling of the chaos unfolding at the Herron. Brigitte Auger, in charge of the elderly autonomy program at the CIUSSS, sent a text message at 6:13 a.m. to Andrei Stanica, the general manager of the Herron.
“I just got a call from the Lakeshore (General Hospital) saying that residents from your establishment are going to the hospital,” Auger wrote.
“There (have been COVID-19) positive cases and you have a very sick nurse working in your environment. The ambulance workers made a dénonciation (declaration) to santé publique,” Auger added, alluding the the Montreal public health department.
