Air Canada announced today its response to Lynx Air’s suspension of operations starting Feb. 26.

The Canadian airline will cap fares and increase seat availability by over 6,000 in select markets operated by the Canadian Ultra Low-Cost Carrier (ULCC.)

This initiative aims to offer affected Lynx Air customers affordable options within Air Canada’s Economy cabin for travel within Canada, to the US and to Cancun, Mexico, allowing them to return home or make alternative travel arrangements for planned winter trips.

These fares can be purchased before Feb. 26 for travel until April 2, covering the March Spring break periods and Easter holiday period.

Customers have the option to book these flights through aircanada.com through travel agents. However, Air Canada has stated that it will not honour Lynx Air tickets.

Lynx Air customers are encouraged to consult the Canadian Transportation Agency website for further guidance.

Additionally, Air Canada intends to increase capacity by more than 6,000 seats on Lynx routes from Toronto and Montreal to destinations including Cancun, Fort Myers, Orlando, Tampa, Phoenix, and Las Vegas from Feb. 25 to March 19. However, due to the ongoing busy winter travel holiday period, flights are already approaching full, limiting the carrier’s ability to further expand capacity.
