Céline Dion slipped and fell onstage during her Oct. 7 show at her Paris residency, then got back up and gave the audience a thumbs up to show she was fine, according to U.S. media reports.
The Quebec-born singer, 58, is in the middle of her first run of full-length concerts in six years, a series at the Paris-area Plenitude Arena that is scheduled to finish Oct. 17 before resuming in May 2027.
The Los Angeles Times reported on Oct. 9 that Dion slipped while performing “Dans un autre monde” and that footage was obtained by People. An Oct. 8 report from a group of U.S. television stations described a fan-shot clip shared on social media, and did not name the song. It said her heel appeared to catch on her pant leg as she jumped while singing.
Neither report included a statement from Dion or her team about the fall. Canada News Media has not seen the footage and could not find a comment from her representatives in the sources read.
The moment drew attention because of her return to the stage. Dion announced in December 2022 that she has stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder, and cancelled her 2023 tour. Both reports note the diagnosis as background. Neither says the fall was related to it.
Dion has spoken about the comeback herself. The Los Angeles Times quoted her as saying: “I’m going to go back onstage, even if I have to crawl, even if I have to talk with my hands, I will.” The newspaper did not give the date or setting of that remark.
Billboard Canada reported that the remaining Paris dates after Sept. 30 are Oct. 2, 3, 7, 9, 10, 14, 16 and 17, with 10 extra shows planned for May 2027. Wikipedia’s entry on the residency lists a slightly different number of dates, so the final count for 2027 should be confirmed with the venue.
Dion also made a surprise appearance on Sept. 28 at the end of the L’Oréal Paris runway show during Paris Fashion Week, singing “I’m Alive” at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, Billboard Canada reported on Sept. 29. She also sang at the Eiffel Tower during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
No Canadian dates were mentioned in the reports read, and Canada News Media found no announcement of any. Her last North American tour, Courage, was cancelled in May 2023.
By Billboard Canada’s schedule, her next Paris show is Oct. 14, and the first run ends Oct. 17.
