Ezri Konsa scored in the seventh minute and Gabriel Magalhães added a header in the 68th as Arsenal beat Everton 2-0 in the Premier League on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Konsa’s opener came from a corner. Viktor Gyökeres set up the defender, who finished from very close range into the bottom left corner to give Arsenal the lead early.
Everton did not score and trailed for the rest of the match after that early goal.
Arsenal doubled the lead in the 68th minute. Ben White crossed from the right and Gabriel rose to head the ball home from close range. The goal was checked by the video assistant referee and confirmed, which left Everton needing two goals with about 20 minutes to play.
It was a physical match. Myles Lewis-Skelly was booked for Arsenal in the 58th minute. Everton picked up three yellow cards, to Vitalii Mykolenko just before halftime, James Garner in the 66th minute and James Tarkowski in the 79th.
The match drew a crowd of 60,207, according to ESPN.
Arsenal drew 2-2 with Bayern Munich in the Champions League earlier this week, a match in which Canada’s Alphonso Davies scored, as Canada News Media reported.
Elsewhere in the Premier League on Saturday, Aston Villa beat Manchester City 2-1 on two goals from Nicolas Jackson.
