The City of Moncton says repairs to one of its water transmission lines could cause occasionally discoloured water and reduced water pressure in Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe over the next few weeks.
The city announced the work in a public service announcement posted Oct. 29. It said the tri-community area may be affected and that the estimated timeline for the repairs is “a few weeks.” The city did not give a start date or say which section of the line is being repaired.
Residents can use their tap water without any restrictions unless they are advised directly, the city said. Discolouration is the main change people may notice, along with periods when water pressure drops.
The city said it will send an updated notice once the project is finished. Questions can be directed to the City of Moncton’s communications office at [email protected].
The notice is separate from the long-term drinking water advisories that remain in place in First Nations communities elsewhere in the country. Our report on the 39 long-term water advisories explains how those differ from short-term service disruptions, and the lifting of the Sambaa K’e advisory shows what a boil-water order ending looks like.
Moncton’s public works department also posted a notice that English Drive was closed at the CN railway crossing on Friday, Oct. 30, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. for rail maintenance, with a signed detour via Delong Drive and Edinburgh Drive. The city’s news and notices page lists current road and water work.
