Canada vs. USA for gold in Hockey Canada’s Para Cup finals

It will be Czechia and China for bronze and USA vs. Canada for gold in International Para Cup action in Dawson Creek, B.C. Saturday.

After round robin play, the US were the team to beat and undefeated; Canada at 2-1, Czechia at 1-2 and China left looking still for their first win in Mile Zero during the action this week.

Canada’s National Para Hockey Team advanced to the gold medal game at the 2025 Para Cup dropping Czechia 7-0 at the Ovintiv Events Centre on Friday evening. Dominic Cozzolino of Mississauga, led the offence with a two goal, five-point night, while Corbin Watson turned in a 12-save shutout. Canada heavily outshot Czechia 38-12.

Round robin play ended with Canada falling 3-2 to the United States at the Ovintiv Events Centre in Dawson Creek on Wednesday evening. Canadian head coach Boris Rybalka set up the U.S. gold medal rematch earlier in the week.

“The Americans are our biggest rival, and I thought tonight was a good game for us. We had a lot of shots and we feel like the result could have been different, but obviously that is not the case,” he said.

“We are getting our chances and getting quality shots, so we will have to tweak some minor things before the next game, but I am confident that we are in a good spot heading into the semifinals. I am really happy with how much progress this team has made since the start of our season in August.”

Declan Farmer set a tournament record for most points in a single game (3 goals, 5 assists) and helped the Americans book their spot in the gold medal game defeating China 13-2

China vs. Czechia (bronze medal game) – 2 p.m. MT/4 p.m. ET

Canada vs. United States (gold medal game) – 6 p.m. MT/8 p.m. ET
