Walker downed Kyle Schwarber with a stunning finish in the final round of MLB’s annual dinger contest on Monday night at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia to claim the title.
Walker homered on his last six swings to complete an epic comeback against Schwarber.
With the win, Walker becomes both the youngest-ever winner of the Derby and the first St. Louis Cardinals slugger to come away victorious.
The 24-year-old hit 12 moonshots in the third round to beat out Schwarber’s 11, spoiling the hometown favourite’s shot of winning in front of the Philly faithful.
Schwarber, Walker, Willson Contreras and Junior Caminero advanced to the semifinals after posting the top-four homer totals in the first round.
Bryce Harper, Munetaka Murakami, Jac Caglianone and Ben Rice all hit less than 10 and saw their night come to an early end.
