A $40-million Lotto Max prize from a ticket sold in Ontario’s Grey County will expire on Wednesday, Oct. 28, unless the holder comes forward to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. (OLG), one year after the draw.
The winning ticket was sold for the Oct. 28, 2025 Lotto Max draw, whose numbers were 06, 14, 17, 19, 26, 43 and 45, with bonus number 27, according to CP24. The ticket was bought at an authorized retailer in the Grey County region, which includes Owen Sound, Meaford, The Blue Mountains, Flesherton, Markdale, Durham and Hanover. OLG has not said which store sold it.
OLG said it does not know who bought the ticket because it was sold at a retailer, CP24 reported. The lottery corporation suggested that a tourist or cottager may have bought it and forgotten to check it, noting that Grey County is a popular destination for visitors. CTV News has also reported that the ticket remains unclaimed.
Anyone who thinks they may hold the ticket can scan it with the OLG app or check the unclaimed tickets page on OLG.ca. OLG can also be reached at 1-800-387-0098. Every claim goes through a review to confirm rightful ownership, OLG said.
Prizes in Ontario must be claimed within one year of the draw. If nobody comes forward by the deadline, the money is returned to players through future bonus games and promotions, according to the reports. OLG has not announced a claimant as of this writing, and CP24’s most recent report on the ticket was published on Oct. 5.
The ticket is the sort of prize that is often discovered in a drawer or a jacket pocket. Lottery officials in Canada regularly urge players to check old tickets, since unclaimed prizes of this size are rare. The search for the holder drew heavy interest in Canada on Tuesday, with the story among the most searched topics in Google Trends Canada.
Lotto Max has been in the news this month for other reasons. A record $90-million jackpot was won in Alberta on Oct. 20, and we reported on that draw and its winning numbers as well as on the rollover that preceded it.
Players who kept tickets from the autumn of 2025 can check the numbers above against any old Lotto Max tickets before the deadline passes. The ticket must be presented to OLG for validation, and OLG said it will review each claim.
