Are you interested in the Pixel 5, 4a 5G or 4a? – MobileSyrup

 on

Google has finally unveiled its 2020 lineup of smartphones, including the Pixel 5, 4a 5G and 4a from ealier this year.

We now officially know the specs of the company’s latest smartphones and their Canadian pricing and availability, with the Pixel 5 costing $799 and launching October 29th. On the other hand, the Pixel 4a 5G costs $679 and launches November 19th.

The Pixel 5 is clearly Google’s 2020 flagship offering, though it doesn’t necessarily offer top-of-the-line specifications. The device features 5G connectivity, a 90Hz refresh rate, a 4,000mAh battery, wireless charging and a cool looking ‘Subtle Sage’ colour variant.

The Pixel 4a 5G also offers 5G connectivity (it’s in the name), a larger 6.2-inch screen, 6GB of RAM and the same primary and ultrawide cameras available in the Pixel 5.

The Pixel 4a has the smallest 5.8-inch screen, and it lacks 5G connectivity but comes with an attractive cost of $479 CAD.

With all this in mind, which smartphone are you most interested in? I personally would pick the Pixel 5 due to its wireless charging and 90Hz refresh rate. I also really like the new Subtle Sage colour. That said, the Pixel 4a is definitely attractive given its lower price tag and the fact that it offers a lot of the same features as the Pixel 5.

Let us know in the comments below if you’re more interested in the Pixel 5, Pixel 4a 5G or the Pixel 4a.

Travis Scott and PlayStation have announced a creative collaboration ahead of the PlayStation 5’s launch.

“I’m super thankful and excited to be able to bring my strategic and creative vision to the rollout of such an iconic product,” Scott said in a statement. “I’ve always been a fan of PlayStation and the brand they’ve built, and this is another example of finding a partner who believes in and trusts Cactus Jack to execute for their brand. This is just the beginning of an incredible partnership.”

In a video shared to Instagram, the rapper — whose alter-ego and business entity go by the moniker Cactus Jack — can be seen promoting the video game console. Part of the multi-tiered deal include collaboration on a variety of currently unannounced initiatives spearheaded by PlayStation.

The alliance is just the latest in a line of creative projects Scott has taken part in this year. His 2020 projects alone include an animated concert in the “Fortnite” video games and a collaboration with McDonald’s. Both went on to stir the industry and set records: 12.3 million players tuned into his concert and many McDonald’s locations experienced shortages of Travis Scott meal ingredients due to high demand.

“Travis is an amazing creator, and we strive to work with the best creative minds inside and outside of our industry to continue to surprise the world in a way that only PlayStation can,” the company’s senior vice president, Eric Lempel, said.

The PlayStation 5 will be released on Nov. 12.

iPhone 12 teardown reveals how 5G has changed things – Engadget

The first two models from Apple’s iPhone 12 have started shipping, and of course the folks at iFixit are busy taking them apart. As of this writing the detailed teardown is still incomplete, but they’ve exposed enough of the details to get a good look under those screens. The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro are surprisingly similar inside, as iFixit points out that the cheaper model has a plastic spacer in the spot where the Pro puts its telephoto lens and LiDAR sensor.

They also have the same size battery, at 10.78 Wh, which is slightly smaller than the 11.91 and 11.67Wh batteries iFixit reported in last year’s iPhone 11 and 11 Pro. In our review we noted that battery life on the iPhone 12 doesn’t quite match its predecessor, and that could be your explanation.

Of course the teardown also mentions that the phones open on a different side this year, and have much larger logic boards. That’s likely because of the addition of 5G technology, which may be squeezing the battery size Apple can fit in there. iFixit already streamed a video teardown of the new iPhones, if any other interesting details are found in the devices then we’ll update this post to let you know.
