The new single hood stripe option will also include the Jake skull
The 2021 Chevrolet Corvette will have a new Jake Stinger hood stripe option, complete with the Jake skull.
The C8 Corvette option will be available on the 2021 model. According to Corvette Product Manager Harlan Charles, the stripe will replicate the large decal seen on the C8 Corvette IMSA pace car.
It appears that the high wing and aero kit also seen on the IMSA could be coming to the order books as well.
“The idea behind these is the design utilized accessories that were either available or ones that will be available coming up later in the year to promote those and use these on the actual pace cars so that you can replicate some of what’s being shown here, like the new Jake Stinger Stripe on the hood is coming soon and of course ground effects and the high wing are kind of coming back available soon,” Charles said on the “Chat with Chevrolet” Facebook stream (per GM Authority).
For those who aren’t familiar, the Jake Stinger moniker comes from the skull logo which became a mascot for Corvette racing after the team found success with a No Fear sticker on the car.
Copyright problems forced the team to design its own emblem which, inspired by Jake Blues from the Blues Brothers, became the Jake skull. The skull was designed by Eddie Jabbour while the name for the logo came Corvette marketing manager Gary Claudio.
