A flyweight rematch is coming to UFC 331.
Current flyweight champion Joshua Van will put his belt on the line against Alexandre Pantoja in the main event for UFC 331 on Sept. 19 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, the promotion announced Wednesday.
The two first crossed paths at UFC 323 in December, when Van stole the title after Pantoja suffered an elbow injury 26 seconds into the bout.
Since that fight, Van defended the flyweight title once, earning a fifth-round knockout victory over Tatsuro Taira at UFC 328. It extended Van’s win streak to seven.
Before surrendering the title to Van, Pantoja had defended the flyweight belt four times with wins over Brandon Royval, Steve Erceg, Kai Asakura and Kai Kara-France.
Should he reclaim the crown in September, he would become just the third flyweight to recapture the title in UFC history.
In addition to the Van-Pantoja rematch, the UFC announced that the No. 2-ranked lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan will square off against Mauricio Ruffy in the co-main event at UFC 331.
Canadian Charles Jourdain will also take to the octagon at the event in a bantamweight bout against Ecuador’s Marlon Vera.
