The arrivals drop-off area at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport will close on weeknights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. until Dec. 19 because of construction on the future Réseau express métropolitain (REM) station, the airport authority announced Tuesday.
Patrol staff will redirect traffic to the departures ramp during the closures, the authority said in a traveller advisory posted on social media.
The airport branch of the REM, which will link the terminal to downtown Montreal, is expected to open by the end of 2027, CTV News reported. The station is expected to serve about 20 per cent of the 35 million passengers the airport expects each year, easing road traffic.
The airport line is part of the larger 67-kilometre automated light-rail system connecting downtown Montreal with the South Shore, North Shore and West Island.
Travellers arriving late at night or very early in the morning, and anyone picking them up, should plan to use the departures level until the closures end. The Montreal Gazette also reported on the overnight closures.
