A McDonald‘s on Rymal Road at Ryckmans Corners has temporarily closed after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.
The restaurant says the employee at 20 Rymal Rd. E. tested positive on Sept. 5. The McDonald’s closed “out of an abundance of caution,” the chain says, and “for a thorough cleaning and sanitization by a certified third party.”
“We are working to ensure our timeline to reopen happens as quickly and safely as possible as we know our guests depend on their local McDonald’s, and we are committed to doing our part to help our communities,” the restaurant said early Sunday.
Fellow employees are in quarantine “until further information is available.” The employee who tested positive last worked on Aug. 31 from 7 p.m. to midnight.
McDonald’s says its sanitization measures include cleaning surfaces, floor markers, limited capacity and protective screens at front counters.
As of Sept. 2, Hamilton has 71 residents known to have COVID-19, for a total of 992 cases. Forty-five people have died and 876 have recovered.
