The right-handed pitcher reported to the team on Friday and was subsequently activated for Toronto’s road tilt against the Philadelphia Phillies. In a correspondeing move, RHP Chase Lee was optioned to triple-A Buffalo.
Waldron, 29, was claimed off waivers from the San Diego Padres last week. The fourth-year pitcher made 10 appearances (three starts) with San Diego this season, posting a 7.16 ERA through 32.2 innings pitched.
Waldron was an 18th-round pick by the Padres in 2019 and made his MLB debut in 2023. He holds a 5.19 ERA with 195 strikeouts through 46 career games (36 starts) and 225.1 innings pitched.
As for Lee, the 27-year-old has made five appearances for Toronto this season. He last played in the Blue Jays’ 3-2 extra-innings loss to the Chicago Cubs on Thursday. Lee pitched a full inning, giving up no runs with a walk and strikeout.
The second-year MLBer holds a 5.06 ERA through 5.1 innings pitched with Toronto this year.
