Ontario has opened applications for the next round of its Seniors Community Grant Program, a $7-million fund for local programs that help seniors stay active and connected, the province said Tuesday.
Not-for-profit community groups, municipalities, Indigenous governing bodies and other organizations can receive up to $25,000 each for programs, services and events that encourage social inclusion, volunteering and community engagement among seniors, the Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility said.
This year’s funding includes an extra $1 million for programs aimed at improving quality of life for senior veterans, the ministry said.
“Strong communities are places where seniors can stay connected, engaged and supported,” said Raymond Cho, minister for seniors and accessibility.
The province said current projects include cooking workshops, fraud and scam prevention sessions, digital literacy programs for adults 55 and older and their caregivers, and intergenerational games nights.
Applications for 2027-28 are open until Dec. 17, 2026, through Transfer Payment Ontario. The ministry is holding information webinars for applicants on Nov. 10 and Dec. 2, in English at 11 a.m. and in French at 2 p.m. More information is at Ontario.ca/getfunding.
The province also said it has expanded Seniors Active Living Centres to more than 400 locations across Ontario.
