12 a.m. –Surrey RCMP busted seven Halloween parties, one person for not quarantining
Surrey RCMP busted seven parties and one person for not following COVID-19 health orders on Halloween.
According to Cpl. Joanie Sidhu, the Surrey RCMP’s COVID-19 compliance team made 150 proactive checks on Halloween to ensure people were following provincial health orders. A total of 24 calls were received from members of the public for complaints related to COVID-19 orders, while 324 calls were related to bylaw infractions such as noise complaints, fireworks and large groups.
“Of all the proactive and reactive COVID-related checks completed, there was a high rate of compliance with only three instances of non-compliance,” said Sidhu in an email.
12 a.m. –Results of B.C. seniors survey to be released Tuesday
The results of a province-wide survey examining how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted visitation in long-term care homes is set to be released tomorrow.
In August, B.C.’s seniors advocate Isobel Mackenzie announced a survey that sought to speak with seniors in care homes and their loved ones about how the lockdown and visitation policy changes have impacted their lives.
As care homes and long-term care facilities are among some of the easiest places for viruses to spread, lockdowns and single-facility staffing protocols were implemented earlier this spring, along with restrictions on visitation in an effort to halt the virus from entering.
